Pastor Esther Dant began her position at University Lutheran Church of Hope in January 2009. Previously she has served five years at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Maplewood as Director of Congregational Care. Her internship in the ELCA was at Central Lutheran in Minneapolis. Prior to that, she served twenty years at Messiah Lutheran in Mounds View as Director of Youth, Stephen Ministry, and Pastoral Care.

From 1985 to 2002 Esther was an Executive Consultant for Stephen Ministries in Saint Louis, where she led Caring Ministry Workshops and for three years, taught at Leaders’ Training Conferences.

She received her undergraduate degree from Concordia University in Saint Paul; she received both her Master of Arts in Pastoral Theology and Master of Divinity from Luther Seminary in Saint Paul.

Esther has three children, Michael, Janet, and Jack; and is grandmother to Monica and Polly. Formerly an Art major at Iowa State University, Esther has a passion for bringing together Theology and the Arts. She finds fulfillment making this a part of her caring ministry work.
