Hope Peace Makers
University Lutheran Church of Hope Peacemakers are a small group that meets quarterly. They study peace by reading books and publications, such as the theologian Walter Wink's "Engaging the Powers," and Father McCarthy's "The Just War Theory: A Christian Deceit", and come together to discuss them.

Hope Peacemakers also organize action around peace issues. In the past year they
* Organized University Lutheran Church of Hope members to join them in two peace marches and carried signs identifying themselves.
* Sold "Say No To War With Iraq" signs to all members desiring them.
* Organized a movie night and discussion of the film "Bonhoeffer" for members and friends of the congregation when it was showing at the University Film Society.
* Circulated a petition to repeal the Conceal and Carry law.
* Endorsed and help sponsor the "Every Church a Peace Church " Conference which took place last spring at Central Lutheran Church.

For information about up-coming meetings or events, contact Donna Neste at (612) 721-7590.
