Small Groups 
WELCOME to the Small Group Information Page
at University Lutheran Church of Hope

Small Groups are for everyone. They build relationships, provide
a way to learn new stuff, and are lots of fun!

We have many types of small groups connected to our
congregation. Some are organized by the congregation. Many
are community groups that use our space and parking lot. Please
contact the church office at ulch@ulch.org or call (612) 331-
5988 for information on how to reach the contact person.

Below is a list of groups with information about them and a
contact person. They are arranged into four categories:
  • Support groups
  • Study groups
  • Interest groups
  • Service groups


    Support Groups
  • Alcoholics Anonymous: Thursdays, 6:30 pm
  • Joy Project (for women with eating disorders): Mondays,
    6:30 pm
  • Well Spouse Group (for those caring for an ill spouse or
    partner): second Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm

    Study groups
    Shoreview Bible Study group:
  • second Saturday of each month with Potluck meal at 6:30
    p.m. and Bible study 7:30 pm
  • Children are welcome
  • Host and leader: Lisa and Merrill Morse

    Tuesday morning Bible Study is an in depth study of one
    book of the Bible.
  • Tuesdays from 10 – 11 am (as scheduled)

    Interest Groups
    Book Club discusses good literature. Both fiction and nonfiction.
    The books usually have some element of faith. The
    Book Club welcomes new members and book recommendations.
  • second Sunday night at 7:00 p.m. in the Church Library.
  • Contact person: Sonja Peterson

    The Quilting group creates lovely quilts out of scrap materials
    for the homeless. People of all ages are welcome. You do not
    need to be able to sew.
  • Monday mornings at 9:30 am.
  • Contact person: Ila Mae Langguth

    Crafters’ group meets for crafting fun! This group is open to
    new members, both men and women of all abilities.
  • second Friday night at 6:30 pm
  • Contact persons: Ann Agrimson and Ann Kreider

    Basketball group: Weekly informal pickup basketball games
    are held across the street at the St. Lawrence Gym.
  • Thursday nights 8:00-9:30 pm
  • Contact: Scott Hvizdos

    Nigeria Mission Group: This group is interested in the
    Lutheran Church in Nigeria and meets to learn more about
    Nigeria and our partner congregation in Jos, Nigeria which is St.
    Peter’s Lutheran Church.
  • Meets as needed
  • Contact person: Jerry Johnson

    Service Groups
    The Loaves & Fishes program provides nutritious meals to
    people who are hungry in the Twin Cities in an atmosphere of
    hospitality. The groups meets at the Holy Rosary Catholic
    Church on 18th Ave. and 24th Street.
  • Food preparation is from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. and food
    service at 5 p.m. on the 4th Wednesday evening of each
    month.
