The Senior Choir has long tradition of excellence and sings the finest of choral literature throughout the liturgical year. They sing most Sundays at the 10:30am worship service during the academic year, and at both services on festival Sundays. The choir frequently collaborates with neighboring churches to present large choral works in concert, including most recently, Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, Bach’s Cantata 80, Ein feste Burg, and Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem. Contact the church office to inquire about membership in the Senior Choir at (612) 331-5988. This fine ensemble’s schedule can be found here.

The Adult Handbell Choir of University Lutheran Church of Hope has 4 octaves of Malmark handbells and 2 octaves of choirchimes. Our rehearsal schedule is here. We play at services 1-2 times per month and on most festival Sundays. If you can count and enjoy making music, this may be the group for you! New members and rehearsal substitutes are welcomed. If interested, contact the church office at 612-331-5988 or talk to any member of the Bell Choir.

University of Lutheran Church of Hope has a 40-rank Holtkamp pipe organ which was installed in 1968. It is an excellent instrument for supporting the vigorous singing of liturgy and hymns, accompanying choirs and instrumentalists, and also a very fine recital instrument. Come hear it!

University Lutheran Church of Hope is also blessed to have many talented instrumentalists among its members. They frequently offer their musical talents in worship throughout the year. Some of the instruments represented include flute, saxophone, guitar, bass guitar, trumpet, violin, viola, cello and recorder. Besides providing special music for preludes, offertories and postludes, they often support the singing of liturgy and hymns.

For a fun read, check out this item by Garrison Kiellor entitled "Why Lutherans Love to Sing".

"So all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, to the sound of the horn, trumpets, and cymbals, and made loud music on harps and lyres." - 1 Chronicles 15:28

Youth Choirs

All children age 7-18 have an opportunity to participate in Youth Choirs!

The Chapel Choir (grades 2-6) sings at least once a month and at festival services throughout the year. (See the schedule here.) The children learn anthems, hymns and liturgy, develop their singing voices, often singing in two parts. The Chapel Choir also learns to play choirchimes and Orff instruments. For more information about the Chapel Choir, contact the church office.

The Youth/Aria Choir (Grades 7-12). Besides singing, they would have opportunities to learn bell ringing and be worship assistants or play their applied musical instruments as a solo or accompaniments. Rehearsals are Sunday mornings from 8:30am for bell choir and 9:00am for choir during the academic year.

Attention Youth Grades 7-12!
All youth in grades seven through twelve are welcome to join any or all music offerings at University Lutheran Church of Hope. Music provides a way to worship, serve, and be part of a community. It was my privilege to work with last years group, and I look forward to working with you again this year. New members are always welcome.

We welcome all youth who are interested in singing to join the choir at anytime.

For further information, contact the church office.
